Looks like we’ll finally see some activity on one of the last big land parcels on Anastasia Island, as Dream Finders Homes closed last week on the 116-acre Antigua of Anastasia Island just north of SR312 and just east of the Matanzas River. The waterfront parcel was slated to be developed back in the early 2000’s, but the project really never got off the ground and sat idle since the start of the economic downturn.
Dream Finders plans to build a mix of single family homes and townhomes at Antigua, with an amenity center and clubhouse. This should be a very desirable location given that it’s on the Island (and an easy, short drive to the beach), close to stores and restaurants on US1, and it’s waterfront, a rare find anymore in a new home in St. Augustine.
No plat map, floor plans or pricing have been released for Antigua, but Dream Finders puts out a really nice product with floorpans that work for today’s buyers, so we expect this development to sell quite well.
We’re hearing that Antigua of Anastasia Island could also include some commercial and multi-family units along the SR 312 section, which would be smart. We’d love to see some mixed use, urban-type retail/residential units there also.
The St. Augustine real estate agency 97Park will keep you in the loop as we learn more about this new home community on Anastasia Island. One thing is for sure, this is an exciting development in the pipeline for St. Augustine.
